Agriculture and Environment

This theme of EBRC research is in direct support of the economic, environmental and social sustainability of rural areas.

Research related to rural policy combines economic and socioeconomic approaches with research on biological systems.

EBRC member SRUC has a number of research groups undertaking socioeconomic research that considers behaviours in relation to innovation and the attitudes of the public to technology and welfare.

With the SRUC Carbon Management Centre and others EBRC researchers are combining research in livestock development with studies relating to greenhouse gas inventories to develop new sustainable, carbon-efficient farming systems that reduce emissions whilst maintaining productivity.
